Program Overview
Intern + Trainee Programs allow college and university students, recent graduates, and young professionals the opportunity to gain exposure to U.S. culture and receive hands-on experience in U.S. business practices in their occupational field.
You can apply for visa sponsorship through Cenet after you have secured your internship/training position, or you can contact us for possible assistance.

Eligibility Requirements
All Intern + Trainee applicants must:
Have sufficient English language skills to comfortably navigate an English-speaking work environment.
The host organization must provide a structured and guided training program that enhances the Intern or Trainee's professional skills.
In addition, the following additional requirements apply based on the program category.
Intern
✓ Be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a college or university outside the U.S. – OR – be a recent graduate (within 12 months of program start) from such an institution.
✓ Have an internship directly related to your academic field.
✓ Participate from 3 weeks to 12 months.
Trainee
✓ Hold a degree or certificate from a college or university outside the U.S. AND have at least one year of related work experience outside the U.S. – OR – have at least five years of relevant work experience outside the U.S. (if no post-secondary degree).
✓ Have a training program directly related to your previous education or professional experience.
✓ Participate from 3 weeks to 18 months (or from 3 weeks to 12 months max if in the hospitality and tourism field).

Work with your host organization to complete the DS-7002 Training/Internship Placement Plan ↗️. Your host will also need to complete a Host Organization Information/Agreement Form ↗️ and provide a certificate of workers' compensation insurance.
Complete your Cenet program application.
Attend a personalized, virtual program orientation with Cenet.
Receive your visa application documents from Cenet after your application is approved.
Book your Appointment at your local US Embassy for your face to face J1 Visa interview!

Programme Fees - UK GBP (£)
Fees are payable when your application is complete and ready to submit to the team in the USA.
We are unable to submit an application without payment.
When your application is complete and ready to move forward, we will email you a payment request that can be paid via card or online banking
What’s included in the fees:
Full Legal Sponsorship: In order to go to the US on a J1 Programme you need a "Designated Legal Sponsor". The Legal Sponsor is not only responsible for your presence in the USA but also for checking and verifying your application and your online Training Plan (DS-7002 - see below). They are also responsible for making sure you have support and a point of contact throughout your time in the USA
SEVIS Fees: Currently $220. SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. This is included in your programme fees. Once your application has been approved, you will see instructions on how to download this - along with your DS-2019 Certificate and your online training plan (DS-7002) - you then take this to the embassy interview with you!
Medical Insurance in the USA: All Participants are covered by insurance for the duration of their programme
Support throughout your time in the USA: 24/7 contact and assistance from the CENET team in the USA
Pre-Departure Orientation: Each participant must complete an online orientation prior to their departure to the USA - this offers information and guidance on life in the USA
Access to comprehensive online information: Advice and regular updates on the programme and life in the USA from CENET throughout your time in the USA
Expert Information and advice on J1 Visa interviews
What’s Not included in the fees:
US Embassy Interview Fee (MRV): This is currently $185 US Dollars and must be paid direct to the embassy at the time of booking the face to face interview for your J1 Visa.
*You can only do this once you have been approved for your programme and received your DS-2019 Certificate).
Flights to and from the USA: Participants are responsible for booking their own flights to and from the USA
Host Company Site Visits:
In some cases, it may be necessary for CENET to conduct a Site Visit in order to approve your US Host Company to host an international Intern or Trainee.
