    ABOUT WORK AND TRAVEL USA

    Work and Travel USA is THE summer programme!
    Available exclusively to university level students this is a great way to spend months in the US, working and playing hard while making new friends and gaining fantastic experience!


    KEY POINTS

    Work and Travel USA lets you spend up to 4 and a half months living and working in the USA over the summer holiday.
    You can work any time between June 01 and September 15 - with up to 30 days tourism and travel time at the end*
    The Programme is ONLY OPEN TO UNIVERSITY LEVEL STUDENTS - so apply now while you still can!
    You can take any job in the USA as long as it is "seasonal"
    Places and visa numbers are limited so make sure you apply as early as possible!

    • Squaw Valley Resort in Lake Tahoe California
      Employer Profile
      Set in a Beautiful location just a short distance from the famous Lake Tahoe this ‘high end’ resort is looking for UK students to join its summer team in their banquet department. Employer Profile

      Suitable for anyone with some hospitality experience (preferred) looking for a summer job giving access to amazing locations. Friends and couples welcome to apply together. Location - In summer, this Northern California vacation resort provides miles of hiking and biking trails, crystal-clear mountain streams for fishing, and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Notes - Must apply (on line before arrival) for California Food Handling Certificate, cost$20. Includes 2 days training

      Myrtle Waves is South Carolina’s largest water park located in Myrtle Beach, SC, with 22 slides and attractions for all ages. Myrtle Waves Water Park has 20 acres of swerves, curves, waves, chutes and over one million gallons of water.

    • Cedar Point, Lake Erie, Ohio - Employer Profile
      On the shores of Lake Erie, it is a well-known, almost historical theme park. Sandusky,
      Ohio is a popular resort town. Cedar Point amusement park/resort is home to more rides
      and roller coasters than any other amusement park in the world.
      Cedar Point is also home to an 18-acre waterpark (Soak City), a mile-long beach, three
      resort hotels, an indoor waterpark/resort, a luxury RV campground inc. cottages and
      cabins, and two large marinas. Get ready for an unforgettable summer!

      Benefits include free access to the rides and shows in the park, free uniforms and an
      employee activities programme. There is also on-site accommodation and employees
      have access to low cost eating facilities.
      Admissions: Sells admission tickets to guests as they enter thepark, or accept payment for tolls to park.

      Pay and Accommodation: $8.35 per hour – up to 35 hours per week.
      Min 10 weeks (12-14 preferred)Starting between May and July until Aug/Sept

    Seasonal means a job in an area that has higher demand during the summer months - i.e. hotels, resorts, restaurants etc.

    ELIGIBILITY

    To be eligible for Summer Work and Travel USA you must be:
    At least 18 years old on June 1st 2017
    Currently enrolled on a degree or diploma course of at least 2 years duration
    Either a UK national OR studying at a UK university or institution

    SEVIS FEES
    SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. The US Government charges a separate fee for every person going to the US on a J1 Visa Programme - BUT IT"S INCLUDED IN THE FEES YOU PAY US

    HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

    There are 2 different programmes you can apply for. If you want to apply for a job through CIEE and it's partners the fee will be £629. If you've already got a job on your own the fee is £529

    Once we've got your details we'll contact you for the £65 deposit in order to get started and then we will stay in contact with you throughout the process!

    EMPLOYER OFFER FORM

    If you're applying for a job independently (or have already got a job in the USA) your employer will need to complete a Job Offer Form, sign it and scan/ email back to you.
    **You'll then need to sign the Participant Section of the Job Offer Form and submit it along with your application!

    THE J1 VISA

    Anybody going to the USA to work for the summer needs a J1 Visa - it opens up a world of possibilities!
    In order to get your J1 Visa you need to go through what's called a "Legally Designated Sponsor". IST Plus works with CIEE in the USA to get your job approved and provide you with the legal sponsorship you need to apply for the visa at your local US Embassy.
    We're there to help you every step of the way - from arranging your visa paperwork to guidance on getting the visa interview - and of course once you're in the USA you know you've got a whole team of experienced staff there to help you when you need it!
